Senior researcher and social scientist using lived experience to drive change. Skilled in qualitative and mixed methods, systems thinking, and delivering actionable insights to shape products and services.

I’m a senior researcher and social scientist who loves doing research. Since my PhD I’ve done 12 years of academic research in healthcare delivery using people’s experiences as the source of insight to improve healthcare. I value people’s lived experience and am skilled at putting people at ease so they can share it. Whether it’s helping design a product or understanding how to improve services (i.e. service design), I’m versed in a range of approaches (qualitative and mixed method) to generate the most useful data.

I’m moving from academia to get closer to the products and services at the heart of the research I do. I have an eye for detail and understand the nitty gritty of how small changes in pathways or products can have big impacts to journeys. I’m also able to see the bigger picture and use systems thinking so that changes are recommended with the bigger ‘whole’ in mind. In my most recent role at MindTech I researched technologies for mental health, using theory to guide their development to maximise future uptake and usage. Intrinsic to this approach was centralising the needs of end users. Whether it’s exploring the minutiae of using a specific interface, or understanding how a service fits more broadly into people’s lives, I combine user experience, methods and theory to generate useful and actionable insights.

I’m experienced at mentoring colleagues and developing research infrastructure so that processes are efficient and optimised. I’m also an advocate for pursuing developmental goals (my own and those around me) and am used to sharing skills as part of a growth mindset. I particularly enjoy complex research and balancing the varying needs of stakeholders, where good communication and a respect for all perspectives is essential to success. I’m experienced in adapting swiftly to evolving situations, remaining agile, and retaining a focus on core priorities when there are competing ones.
